Job Description

DESCRIPTION/BASIC FUNCTION
THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION WITH FUNDING LASTING FOR ONE YEAR.

The Research Associate’s primary responsibility will be isolating circulating tumor cells from whole blood from human or animal specimens on a variety of clinical protocols.  
The Research Associate will perform experiments according to written protocols under supervision of a Staff Scientist. Results will be documented and analyzed by image processing and statistical methodologies.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Possession of a Bachelor in biochemistry, Biology, immunology or closely related field, from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with laboratory courses in a field related to biomedical research.
Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in biochemical or biological laboratory methods including cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, antibody characterization, and protein concentration assays.
Extensive bench work with advanced automated instrumentation
Must have good computer skills
Ability to perform basic laboratory math and some knowledge of basic statistical methodologies.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Significant laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas: T cell subset characterization, Circulating tumor cells (CTC) isolation and characterization, western blotting, immunofluorescence assays, fluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry, experimental pharmacology
Experience working in a regulated environment under SOPs
