As a member of the oncology research team, this individual will provide in vivo support to translational research efforts, and to generate quality data package to support project progression, and preclinical-clinical transition.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Design and execute PK/PD/efficacy/MOA studies to support pre-clinical and clinical stage oncology programs.
•Administer small molecule compounds and biologics to tumor-bearing mice, measure endpoints such as tumor volume and body weight and may analyze samples at the bench using various analytical methods.
•Design, develop and characterize disease-relevant in vivo models including syngeneic, xenograft, patient derived xenograft (PDX) and genetically engineered and humanized mouse models.
•Collaborate closely and work in multi-disciplinary teams with other members of Ignyta’s R&D teams to ensure meeting aggressive project deliverables.
•Work both independently and collaboratively as part of an in vivo pharmacology team.
•Collect, organize and present scientific/technical data internally and in project team meetings.
•Perform ex vivo studies (Western blot, ELISA, FACS, multiplex, DNA/RNA/protein preparation) as needed.
•Perform in vitro cell culture as needed.
Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies and all applicable regulations.
•BS with 2+ years’ experience or MS with 0+ years’ experience of in vivo in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting. Ideally the degree should be in Cancer Biology, Cancer Immunology, Pharmacology or related field.
•Previous pharma/biotech industry experience in drug research and development with exposure to concept and practice of targeted cancer therapy is required.
•In vivo skills necessary to validate and implement rodent oncology models including multiple routes of dosing (p.o., i.p. i.v.), blood collection, tumor implantation techniques, and drug efficacy readouts are required.
•In vitro cell culture including culture of primary human cancer cells and patient-derived models is required.
•Experience with in vivo xenograft models including primary patient derived (PDX) and syngeneic models is required.
•Rodent surgery experience is highly desired.
•Development of novel immuno-oncology in vivo models, including humanized mouse tumor models is highly desired.
•Husbandry and vivarium management experience is highly desired.
•Immuno-oncology experience is highly desired.
