Job Description

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join the Immuno-Oncology team at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals during this exciting time as the field makes major advances harnessing the power of the immune system to fight cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for characterizing and validating novel anti-tumor therapeutics, including both antibody-based and cellular therapies, by designing and carrying out complex in vivo mouse experiments in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised animals. In addition, the candidate will utilize standard cell culture techniques and will execute a variety of assays to understand mechanisms of action, including flow cytometry and ELISA analyses. Ideal candidates will have a basic knowledge of immunology principles and laboratory experience in cellular biology/immunology, must be highly organized with an attention to detail, and should be able to effectively and frequently communicate and collaborate with colleagues on the Immuno-Oncology team.

Responsibilities:
Planning and execution of in vivo tumor studies in immunocompetent and immunocompromised mice

  • Tumor cell implantation and administration of therapeutics via subcutaneous, intravenous, and intraperitoneal routes into mice
    - Dissection of mouse lymphoid organs and tumors, followed by in vitro processing/purification of tissues/cells
    - Perform multiparameter flow cytometry (FACS) and analysis
  • Perform various immunoassay techniques (e.g., ELISAs and cell purification)
  • Cell culture, including passaging, expanding, cryopreservation, thawing and processing of cells
    - Organization of studies: timing of in vitro culturing, tumor implantation, and drug dosing

    Requirements

This position requires a B.S./M.S. and at least 3-5 years of experience working with in vivo tumor models
  • Experience with pre-clinical tumor models, including mouse handling, tumor cell implantation and tissue dissection
  • Expertise in administration of experimental therapies (intravenous, subcutaneous, and intraperitoneal injections) in mice and the ability to make detailed observations of tumor growth and mouse health
    - Experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry (FACS) analysis and ELISA assays
  • Experience working with sterile cell culture techniques for the growth and maintenance of cell lines
  • Ability to manage multiple in vivo experiments simultaneously
    - Candidate should be competent in standard scientific software used for data analysis (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Prism), as well as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and adapt experimental design based on emerging data.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage and record details of several projects simultaneously
At least 3-5 years of laboratory experience in cellular biology/immunology, working with in vivo tumor models
This position will require the individual to pass a physical before beginning employment.
