Main Duties and Responsibilities

Medimmune has an opportunity for a Research Associate I/II in the Late Stage Characterization Group within the Analytical Sciences Department in Gaithersburg, MD.  The successful candidate will carry out analytical testing using Electrophoresis, Chromatography, and Mass Spectrometry techniques in supporting detailed characterization of biopharmaceutical products, such as humanized monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, and recombinant proteins.  The candidate must have chemistry or biochemistry lab experience.  Industry internship experience is a plus. The candidate will work on complex and technically demanding projects where analysis of data requires an evaluation of multiple variables. The candidate will make detailed experimental observations, review and analyze data, interpret experimental results, and summarize for presentations and reports.  The ability to follow SOPs, policies, and regulations, and to perform routine lab equipment maintenance is required.  The successful candidate must have excellent oral communication skills, good time management and outstanding multi-tasking abilities, and a fast-paced team-centered setting.


Essential Requirements

Education:   BS, MS or equivalent in Chemistry or Biochemistry with at least 1 year hands-on lab experiences

ExperienceBS/MS 0-3 year work experience. Industry experience is preferred


The candidate must have some background in protein chemistry and experience on at least one of analytical techniques such as HPLC, gel electrophoresis, cIEF, and mass spectrometry. Excellent writing skill is essential for this role. Great teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical. Good multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills are required.
