Job Description

This position’s primary responsibilities will be focused on supporting studies exploring the activity and mechanism of action of Dynavax’s immunomodulatory compounds for cancer immunotherapy.  The area of responsibility will include but not be limited to the execution of in vivo and in vitro experiments with a focus on immune cell functions, and the set-up and performance of experiments using tumor tissue.

Responsibilities:
•   Under direct supervision, conduct varied experiments that include but are not limited to
•   Processing of animal tissue and purification of immune cell populations.
•   Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence characterization of tissues to characterize degree of infiltration of immune cells.  
•   Support in developing novel in vitro tissue culture assays and assist with troubleshooting.
•    Process samples for evaluation using a large variety of immunological techniques.
•    Flow cytometry assessment of tumor infiltrating leukocyte and sorting of rare population.
•    Analyze experimental data, prepare and submit detailed technical reports, and present results at team meetings.
•   Day-to-day management of laboratory reagents and maintenance of key equipment.
•   Work as a member of an integrated team in a highly collaborative environment.
•   Stay current on state-of-the-art scientific principles, theories, and applications in given discipline through review of current literature, journals, and publications. Contribute to publications and/or patents.  
•   Document all scientific work in lab notebooks and follow established Dynavax standard operating procedures on data documentation and notebooks.
•   Present scientific results in large group meetings and may present data at conferences.
•   Support the organization in maintaining a work environment focused on quality and that fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, integration, and team work.  
•   Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

•   A BS in Biological Science or Immunology with 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
•   Relevant laboratory experience will include but not be limited to design and execution of in vivo and in vitro experiments, processing animal tissues, purification, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence characterization.
•   Must be capable of working independently; possess excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.

•       Previous experience with syngeneic mouse models of cancer is highly desirable.  Previous experience with chemotherapeutic compounds a plus.
