Job Description

Surrozen is a newly launched biopharmaceutical company founded by world-leading scientists from Stanford University, Drs. Chris Garcia, Roel Nusse, Calvin Kuo and Claudia Janda. The company is focused on harnessing the Wnt pathway to identify novel therapeutics for regenerative medicine, leveraging breakthrough insights from its founders in protein engineering, stem cell dynamics, and fundamental Wnt biology.  

Surrozen is seeking a creative, self-motivated individual with a passion for experimental science to join our founding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting edge science and take part in building an exciting, science driven company.

Key Responsibilities:
•   Perform a diverse range of molecular biology and biochemical assays to design and characterize lead molecules including nucleic acid isolation and characterization, PCR, real-time PCR, molecular cloning, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, protein purification, ELISA, and pull-down analysis.

•   Oversee all aspects of maintaining several cell lines and organoid cultures including preparation of tissue culture reagents, passaging and distributing cells, transfection, and performing FACs analysis and reporter assays.


•   A Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with a minimum of 1-4 years of hands on research experience in either an academic lab or company setting.

•   Prior experience working with mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, Real-time PCR and protein biochemistry is required. Candidates with cell reporter assay experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

•   Experience with in vivo models, animal handling, dosing, efficacy studies and tissue sample collection are a plus.

•   Strong motivation, creative thinking, and attention to detail are essential. The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, to communicate clearly and effectively, as well as to build open and collaborative relationships are critical.
