Alere has developed a novel point-of-care in vitro molecular diagnostic platform, the Alere™ i, based on its proprietary isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology (iNAT). The Alere™ i is capable of detecting a DNA or RNA target in less than fifteen minutes from a crude lysate, with exquisite sensitivity and specificity. The Alere™ i Influenza A & B test and Alere™ i Strep A test were both recently granted CLIA waivers, with the Influenza A & B test being the first molecular test to obtain such a status. Alere is currently looking for a creative hands-on Associate Scientist/Research Associate who will be responsible for assay development, to help bring additional tests to market as well as to drive future improvements and applications.
Alere is currently looking for a dynamic individual who will provide molecular diagnostic assay development experience and expertise to further populate the pipeline of tests to be performed on the platform. The Associate Scientist/Research Associate will perform studies focused on the design, screening, development and optimization of novel assays, as well as expanding the capabilities of the core technology. An employment opportunity is currently available with Ionian Technologies, a subsidiary of Alere, at our location in San Diego, CA.
