Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Regeneron Genetics Center Functional Modeling group at Tarrytown, NY. The successful candidate will support on-going projects in modeling human disease variant alleles. Preferred candidates will possess strong backgrounds in the practical and theoretical aspects of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics.

Responsibilities:
Apply current state of the art molecular cloning techniques to construct targeting vectors and expression vectors.

  • Perform routine culturing and cloning of mammalian tissue culture cells.
  • Perform DNA, RNA, and protein extractions; plasmid purification, Southern and Western blotting; PCR and RT-PCR.
  • Design, execute, and control experiments according to protocols.
  • Develop new methods and apply troubleshooting tactics when needed.
  • Perform laboratory calculations and manipulations independently.
  • Maintain clear records of experimental details in a laboratory notebook.
  • Communicate experimental results, conclusions and ideas directly to supervisor, project team members, and management in presentation form.

    Requirements

    We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's level degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field. Preferred candidates will possess 1-3 years of related laboratory experience.

    Candidates should be proficient in molecular biology principles and techniques, including DNA cloning, PCR, sequence analysis, protein expression and purification, and western blotting.

    Preferred candidates will have experience with pluripotent stem cell culturing and differentiation assays.

    Proficiency with sequence analysis software (MacVector, Sequencher) and genomic sequence databases is preferred.

    Candidates must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be able to adapt quickly to changes in priorities.

    Candidates must interact effectively with fellow scientists and research associates and to maintain a high level of productivity as a team player in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

    A minimum of 1 year lab experience is required.
