Research Associate
Bionomics, Inc is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and driven Research Associate to join our dynamic team that is focused on developing drugs in the exciting field of cancer stem cells. Bionomics, Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bionomics Limited, a company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).  Bionomics Limited is a progressive and expanding biotechnology company who conducts research and development into cancer, central nervous system (CNS) and immune diseases.

Job responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
•   Plan, execute and analyze experiments under manager supervision, utilizing standard biochemical and molecular techniques
•   Examine data and prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analysis and ensure experiments are well documented
•   Development, characterization and optimization of assay protocols and reagents
•   General lab tasks including ordering, organizing and instrument maintenance

Requirements

Requirements
•   BS/MS in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline with 1-3 years of hand-on experience in an R&D laboratory with industry experience being highly preferred.
•   Hands-on experience with the following specialties:
o   Standard biochemical and molecular biological procedures including RNA isolation, qPCR, transfection, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting and ELISA.
o   Sterile cell culture techniques with experience in stem cell and cancer stem cell culture highly preferred.
o   Small animal handling including subcutaneous, metastatic and orthotopic xenograft tumor models, dosing (IP, SC, IV), blood and tissue collection.
o   Handling and manipulation of primary tumor samples and derived cells.
o   Validation and design of new laboratory protocols
o   Excellent written and oral communication skills.
o   Attention to detail, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis, statistical methods and experimental interpretation, resourcefulness and the ability to work independently in a fast paced team environment.

•   Preference will be given to candidates with the following additional hands-on experience:
o   Broad knowledge and expertise in oncology including cell signaling, cell cycle and apoptotic pathways.
o   Use of MACS to separate and/or enrich cell populations.
o   Use of flow cytometry and FACS to analyze and/or sort cell populations.
o   Expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and microscopy

Tasks:
Lab administration
•   Monitor general lab supplies and reorder as needed
•   All lab ordering with the exception of rush items which will be ordered by individuals as required
•   Unpack ordered items
•   Maintain MSDS, chemical inventory
•   Maintain liquid nitrogen inventory
•   Maintain freezer organization
•   Maintain tissue sample organization

Research Associate
•   Cell line expansion for inventory (after training)
•   CSC expansion from xenografts
•   Characterization of new cell lines: immunophenotype, qPCR, siRNA
•   Assistance with animal work: tumor measurement, drug administration, sacs and tumor processing
•   Run various flow and biochemical assays as needed

Basic lab skills required:
•   Tissue culture
•   Molecular biology
•   Animal work

Bonus points:
•   Flow cytometry
•   Bioinformatics
•   Statistics
