We are currently looking for a creative and highly motivated researcher in the mammalian expression function within our Protein Sciences group.  This position will assist in the expression and analysis of novel potential therapeutic proteins and the development of new expression platform systems that will expand mammalian gene expression capabilities.  Primary responsibilities will include the construction of mammalian expression vectors, transfection of mammalian cell lines with plasmids directing the transient or stable expression of recombinant proteins.  This includes the opportunity to work with different mammalian cell lines and in different culture formats, screening clones for protein expression, selection and amplification of stable high producer clones and scale up into Wave Bioreactors.  The position will involve the use of a broad repertoire of molecular biology, protein analysis and mammalian tissue culture techniques.  These include but are not limited to: PCR, cDNA synthesis, DNA cloning, bacterial transformations, SDS-PAGE, Western blots, mammalian cell transfections-transients as well as stables, selection using dominant selectable markers and standard reporter gene assays.

Requirements

Applicants should have a B.S. /M.S. in the biological or chemical sciences with 2-3 years of experience.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology and/or mammalian cell culture in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.  .  The candidate will be expected to maintain up to date record of experiments and provide prompt updates of results therefore good organizational skills are essential.  The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with scientists and other associates.  Additionally, the candidate must be motivated by hands-on lab-based work.  Strong communication skills (both oral and written) are essential in our fast moving environment.
