We are seeking a chemist, biochemist, or bioengineer with experience in developing surgical medical devices, use of polymeric biocompatible and medical grade materials, and conducting animal and human subject studies.
Selecting and validating polymeric biocompatible materials for clinical use
Designing and conducting validation studies in vitro, prior to animal or human subject studies
Participating in animal and human subject studies
Participating in design and testing of medical devices, including biopsy devices and catheters
Leading R&D projects under supervision from the Program Director
Participating in design of optical chemical and biochemical sensors
Testing fiber optic chemical sensors and/or biosensors, analyzing the experimental data collected, and extracting relevant information (generating plots, graphs, tables, etc.)
Preparing polymer films and polymeric coatings doped with indicator dyes sensitive to specific chemicals
Evaluating performance of optical and electronic instrumentation as part of chemical monitoring system
Accurate reporting of research activity
Participating in R&D meetings.
Assume responsibility and participate in R&R initiatives
Doctorate or minimum 5 years of professional experience in an R&D laboratory/group setting, in a related field
Experience developing and validating (in animal or human subject studies) medical devices or supplies
Ability to understand and take ownership of project goals and progress with little or no supervision.
Desired Technical Skills:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Biocompatible and medical grade polymers
Spectroscopy, in particular UV-VIS absorption, steady state, and time domain luminescence
Optical and electronic instrumentation
Other Desired Skills:
Strong teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
