Job Description


The Quality Systems Manager (Six Sigma) fulfills a critical role for the Central Function Quality Systems group.   This individual will be responsible for implementing Six Sigma quality methods, tools, and Lean concepts across Bachem Americas sites in order to drive change.  The incumbent will be responsible for training other team members on Lean/Six Sigma tools and principals in order to improve processes and eliminate waste within the quality system as well as within other departments at Bachem Americas.  This position will also be involved with the harmonization of the quality systems at Bachem Torrance and San Diego sites.  


•   Provide Lean/Six Sigma formal instruction including development and delivery of training or classes
•   Train, coach, and mentor individuals and cross-functional team members in improvement tools, analysis, and methodologies
•   Serve as a dedicated resource working directly with department leaders and staff to support process improvement
•   Present Lean/Six Sigma project progress to organization and leadership as needed.
•   Assist with creation of shared Quality Systems documents for Bachem Americas to achieve harmonization between the Torrance and San Diego sites
•   Assist with implementation of Master Control software in Bachem San Diego and Torrance sites
•   Assist with internal auditing at both sites



•   Bachelor’s Degree in a science related field: Chemistry, Biology or equivalent
•   Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in quality assurance
•   Extensive experience in cGMP manufacturing, Quality Control, and/or Quality Assurance
•   Certified Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt
•   Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience applying Lean/Six Sigma principles, working as a LEAN Master or Black Belt facilitator
•   Ability to apply Lean and Six Sigma tools throughout the organization, and coach others in the use of these methodologies
•   Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface at all organizational levels
•   Ability to interact well with co-workers, customers, regulatory agency auditors and senior management
•   Experience in writing standard operating procedures (SOPs), specifications and technical reports
•   Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•   Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
•   Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
•   Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
•   Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
•   Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment


This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee must also be capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment.  The ability to lift up to 25 lbs. is required.
