Worldwide, more of the 89 million units of donated blood are tested with Novartis than any other NAT system. But there's still more work to be done to address unmet medical needs. Building on its strong presence in transfusion medicine, Novartis Diagnostics is creating innovative diagnostics to detect, prevent and predict disease and to improve medical outcomes.
The incumbent will lead product development teams to successfully launch systems and assays in the highly regulated blood testing market. This position will also drive product development processes and tools that will contribute to operational excellence within Diagnostics. Participation and active involvement in initiatives within Portfolio & Program Management and the global Diagnostics organization will also be involved in this position.
* Initiate, plan, execute, and monitor global product development activities of cross functional teams to ensure products are launched on schedule, on budget and meet business, regulatory and quality requirements.
* Manage and lead a large, diverse, team responsible for developing and executing on a global product strategy.
* Identify and manage cross-regional product requirements. Consolidate projects plans to assess resource, financial and other gaps for lifecycle management.
* Drive decision making and problem resolution in project or program.
* Provide updates to senior leadership on program status, challenges and additional support required.
* Manage multiple stakeholders in complex project environments, including regional sales & marketing, global marketing, technical services, functional heads and executive management.
* Lead and mentor a team to ensure innovative, high-quality solutions are deployed to launch product on time and on budget.
* Develop collaborator and partnership relationships. Establish contractual relationships and monitor mutual obligations.
* Bachelors/Masters degree in scientific discipline or equivalent, PhD a plus.
* PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
* Minimum of 7 -10 years in product development experience in regulated industry required.
* Minimum of 7 - 10 years in project management required; Experience in program management of international, global development teams preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years combined in diagnostics and/or medical device and/or pharmaceutical development preferred.
* Strong experience in systems and systems integration.
* Product launch experience required.
* Excellent leadership and management skills with experience managing and leading people cross-functionally with varying levels of experience.
* Team player with an ability to function and influence others in a multi-cultural matrix environment.
* Open communication style with strong verbal and written communication skills.
