As a Project Director - Medical Affairs - Oncologyin Gaithersburg, MD, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. North American Commercial is the 'face' of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will be the subject matter expert regarding project management best practices and work collaboratively with Medical Leaders and other team members to ensure project goals and milestones are achieved. You will provide a high level of project management expertise to Medical Teams ensuring smooth and efficient operational implementation of evolving Medical brand strategies and life cycle management, enabling on-time / on-budget project delivery. The SPM/AD will maintain, promote and influence plans via project management tools. You will mentor other project managers and have a high level of independence to meet requirements outlined above with minimal supervision.

You will work with Therapeutic Area (TA) /Functional Leadership teams for development of multi-year area roadmaps, brand medical plans and/or major initiatives; lead translation of strategy into project plans and deliverables, communicates plans/accountabilities to the team as well as leadership and key stake holders, escalating as appropriate. Brings lessons learned from other projects to effectively drive these project strategies; monitor overview of the financial status; driving decision-making within cross- team structures, including tradeoff/prioritization discussions regarding both programs and spend; challenge team and functional representatives on project assumptions relating to time, cost, resources and contingencies; contribute actively to risk / benefit analyses, therefore minimizing the number of activities that are on the critical path for project delivery; maintain plans for major initiatives, such as product launches, via project management tools (i.e. MS Project, etc.) and proactively takes initiative to address issues impacting team efficiency; creating process designs to streamline and simplify business processes.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

*  BA/BS is required, ideally in science or medical field. Minimum 5-7 years pharmaceutical/biologics industry experience, including proven leadership in developing and executing complex cross-matrix, multi-year projects  
 *  Minimum 2-3 years in a strategic business role  
 *  Progressively responsible management experience

Desired Requirements

*  Advanced science and/ or MBA strongly  
 *  PMP certification  
 *  Experience in Oncology medical program planning
