3M is seeking a Product Development Engineering Specialist for the 3M Purification Inc. Division.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Applies innovative and advanced technical skills to the conceptualization, design and development of new filtration & separation technologies / products for the Industrial markets.
- Responsible for the successful completion of projects that meet the technical and economic targets and product commercialization.
- Assumes leadership role for technical activities.  Responsible to direct the efforts of other technical personnel (e.g. technicians, drafters, etc) to the successful completion of tasks.
- Leads multi-disciplinary project teams through the development process.  Responsible for project planning and execution, as well as providing project status reports to Sr. Management.
- Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
- Interacts with customers/clients to better understand customer/client relations, customers or clients processes, and applications.
- May conduct training to customers and/or business teams.
- Continues to build technical knowledge by participation in Tech Forum, divisional activities or interactions with outside technical organizations.
- Managing intellectual property
- May review intellectual property positions at the business level, including proprietary advances, ROI's, patents, trade secrets and other intellectual property. This will include documenting experimental data/observations in technical notebooks or electronic files.
- Other duties as assigned.
Relocation: Relocation is authorized for this opportunity within country per 3M’s plans.

Location and Travel: The position of Product Development Engineering Specialist will be located in Meriden, CT and may include up to 10% travel.

Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 3 years combined experience in process or product development in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of one year experience working in the liquid filtration, separations and purification business.
- Track record of addressing customer’s technical problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self driven with excellent organization and leadership skills.
