Description

As part of a talented and multi-disciplinary team advancing an exciting new approach to drug discovery and development, the successful candidate will be responsible for the timely planning and procurement of requested items in order to meet deadlines while complying with applicable procedures, policies, and regulations. To achieve this, the Procurement Specialist/Buyer will communicate regularly with scientists to generate and manage purchase orders, maintain procurement records and track outstanding orders.  The candidate should have a personality to develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to improve costs and drive savings.

General Purchasing Operations:
- Accept internal purchasing requisitions to generate and execute on all purchase orders
- Log and track all outstanding orders, updating colleagues as appropriate on the status of their order
- Work with receiving to reconcile deliveries, processing any returns and addressing incompletes
- Look to automate as much of the general ordering and inventory evaluation process as possible

Capital Equipment Procurement:
- Assist scientists in the sourcing and procurement of equipment to support existing asset requirements and future expansion, negotiating pricing with vendors as appropriate
- Work with receiving to track and coordinate delivery of new equipment purchased
- Assist Facilities in executing renewal of essential service contracts, ensuring no coverage lapses

Requirements

- Education:  Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience Preferred:
   -Previous work in procurement, receiving, and inventory management
   -Biotech, pharmaceutical or scientific research industry preferred
- Knowledge of forecasting, master scheduling, resource planning
- Independent and industrious personality
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in team-oriented environment
- Basic understanding of mechanics to perform routine maintenance/repair of lab equipment a plus
- Highly organized & disciplined in completing tasks on time
