The Pfizer Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla is seeking a full-time employee to support the drug discovery process to create innovative cancer therapies. The successful candidate will evaluate drug interactions and protein behavior primarily by label-free methods as a member of the Biophysics Laboratory. In addition, characterization of drug interactions may occur through other biochemical methods. The successful candidate will work with a high degree of independence to provide biophysical insight on targets and ligands as well as impact project teams at a strategic level.
We have an immediate opening in the Pfizer Oncology Research Unit for a highly productive, independent research colleague to join the Biophysics Group. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with an advanced practical knowledge of characterizing molecular interactions by biophysical methodologies and a growing knowledge of other relevant disciplines. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the development and operation of assays for the thermodynamic and kinetic characterization of small molecule-protein and protein-protein interactions. Identification of new biophysical methods is expected in order to provide a leading-edge insight of drug behaviors to the organization. Enzymology experience in elucidating mechanisms of drug action and catalysis is valued. A working knowledge of structural biology will be helpful. Good communication skills (written, verbal), leadership skills, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment are essential.
