We are looking for a an experienced Portfolio and Resource Management Lead to work within the Alliance and Operations (A&O) group, part of Biometrics and Information Sciences (B&I).B&I drives good design to generate the data needed for quality decision making. The goal of B&I is to deliver value to the pipeline by excellence in delivery, improving decision making, and engaging and shaping the external environment whilst accessing and implementing innovative solutions. A&Ois the group in B&I that oversees strategic initiatives for B&I and supports processes and policies for all sections within B&I to ensure consistency with the department and business. A&O shapes and manages the B&I alliance environment for A&R partnerships and deliverables. Across both areas of A&O there is a consistent focus on budget, resource, change management and continuous improvement.

Focus and challenge of the position:

  • Management of the portfolio & resources across B & I
  • Partners with GMD project teams to understand demand required
  • Owns the resource algorithms for B & I – and ensure that they accurately predicted demand
  • Partners with alliance directors and internal teams to understand supply available and ensure supply / demand aligned
  • Owns the recruitment strategy for B & I
  • Owns the contract management strategy for B & I
  • Understands and influences the high level sourcing strategy for B & I
  • Partners with the Pipeline Lead and Operations Lead to ensure alignment of portfolio planning, sourcing strategy, resource management and risk management activities.
  • Track financials in partnership with finance
  • Support creation of budget and quarterly updates
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the analysis and reporting delivery components of drug development
  • Drives improvement in the portfolio & resource management methodology and provides solutions for B & I

Knowledge, skills and capabilities required:

  • University degree, or equivalent
  • Strong experience from within the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research organization
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process at various phases of development
  • Ability to understand business strategy and goals and generate new strategic options
  • Comfortable in dealing with senior managers - strong strategic influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, and remotely, from key customers and stakeholders and with little direction
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that involve many decision makers, and develop multiple options/recommendations
  • Extensive networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively both within the company (on both an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary basis) and externally
  • Proven project leadership/project management experience from drug and/or non-drug projects.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Expertise in portfolio and resource management
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
