The Plasma Operations Trainee under center management supervision develops a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of center operations. The Plasma Operations Trainee will be knowledgeable and trained in all areas of Biomedical Technician responsibilities and provide administrative support and occasional coverage to center management. Must be willing to relocate for further advancement. The Plasma Operations Trainee follows Standard Operating Procedures, and remains current regarding SOP changes. Observe employee's performance and provide assistance to center training staff and assist in additional training whenever needed. Schedule staff to provide adequate and safe coverage for area(s), monitor time card procedures and utilization of overtime. Maintain proficiency in all 3 production areas & assist in those areas as staffing & production dictates. Identify and screen donors by reviewing medical records and logs and evaluating customer for suitability. Screening includes asking health related questions; taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and temperature) and reviewing results; taking blood to determine hematocrit, and total protein,; and handling and interpreting urine specimen results. Maintain donor confidentiality. Explain the usage of plasma as well as plasmapheresis procedures to new donors and other information pertinent to the donor. Track, order, and document physical examinations, as necessary. The Plasma Operations Trainee will calibrate and perform quality control procedures for equipment utilized, such as hematocrit centrifuge, refractameter, donor scale, vital check instrument.
A Bachelor's Degree is required. Biological Sciences is preferred. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. Some educational background in field of hematology is helpful but not required.
