Job Description

Novartis Institute of BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking an expert in the discovery and development of novel biologic therapies to join our Oncology Biotherapeutics team in Cambridge MA.

Our group is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapeutics that bring transformative benefit to patient’s lives.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists to lead an independent lab and project teams, interfacing closely across functional areas of Biotherapeutics, Immuno-Oncology, Protein Engineering and Translational Research.

An ideal candidate would meld a deep understanding of cancer biology with experience in biologics discovery (experience with antibody drug conjugates and bispecific modalities being an advantage) to lead drug discovery projects from inception to the clinic. They will be responsible for project team leadership and mentoring of associates through direct and matrixed reporting structures.

Key to success will be the ability to lead, coach, motivate and communicate within a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have a PhD in the life sciences and a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of oncology/immuno-oncology research, particularly related to industrial drug discovery and development as evidenced by a minimum of 3 years industry experience.

Thorough familiarity and demonstrated experience with all aspects of biotherapeutics drug discovery and clear examples of innovation within the field.

Specifically:

• A strong publication record is essential.

• Proven ability to lead multi-discipline drug discovery project teams, including the ability to coach and mentor.

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and scientifically driven, proficient reasoning skills demonstrated in the context of early-though late stage preclinical drug discovery.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide timely and open feedback.

• Demonstrated ability to present drug discovery project updates to senior management and executive boards.
