Description

The Manager of the Community Pharmacy Specialist area will report directly to the National Sales Director for the Pharmacy Specialist Team. This field based position has responsibility for regional business activities for the company’s Pharmacy Specialist Team, comprised of approximately 8 employees per area. The primary objective of the position is to lead a team of Pharmacy Specialists in providing medical and technical expertise to ensure the proper positioning, awareness, and appropriate use of Sanofi products, as well as leverages clinical advances and innovations within disease states. In addition, they oversee the interface with state pharmacy associations, societies, schools and colleges of pharmacy to advance programs/activities that support community pharmacy practice, and function as a hybrid between field representative development and serving as an account manager for regional accounts.

The Manager will be responsible for the team identifying and collaborating with community pharmacy accounts to develop programs and strategies that improve patient outcomes and increase product awareness and understanding. The position will require high-level medical knowledge, business acumen, strategic and analytical thinking, and very strong collaborative leadership skills to implement strategies and tactics. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the pharmacy distribution channel are required.

* Maintain the highest professional levels of scientific, clinical, and technical expertise within disease states across the Sanofi portfolio.
* Accountable for the Pharmacy Specialist strategies, goals, plans, and tactics, including the development and implementation of territory management plans to ensure revenue generation and revenue growth.
* Develop sales and ROI measurements toward sales goalsAccelerate sales growth and measure impact of team efforts in an appropriate manner
* Collaborate and align with USMA US Market Access Channel Development Team to support pull-through of national programs, tactics, and initiatives.
* Engage with regional pharmacy executives within chain accounts to create mutually beneficial business relationships, as well as, function as account managers for regionally based chains
* Establish and maintain Sanofi’s relationship with district and store level innovators and opinion leaders in pharmacy practice.
* Support business management as clinical or technical issues arise within Sanofi product lines.
* Identify account opportunities to improve access for Sanofi products within selected accounts.
* Identify customer needs and align Sanofi resources to address these insights appropriately.
* Secure the base business and ensure launch excellence and subsequent growth across product lifecycle.
* Build deeper account management expertise and customer knowledge within region.
* Manage training and onboarding activities for the team.
* Provide field-level expertise, support, and tactical pull-through for key strategic initiatives, new product launches, and life-cycle extension activities.
* Knowledge of advanced outcomes analysis and modeling is also preferred.
* Demonstrated abilities to function autonomously, exhibit confidence and credibility, and demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit are essential.
* Responsible for managing the attainment of sales expectations and development of new sales opportunities within the region through effective coordination of Pharmacy Specialist Team and Field Sales.
* Coordinate with Retail Pharmacy Team, Field Sales, USMAUS Market Access, Marketing, and Brand Management personnel to secure competitive product access and formulary placement to position Sanofi favorably within local systems and medical groups. Ensure that these placement decisions are quickly and effectively communicated to community pharmacy accounts.
* Consistently coach and train direct reports; recognize and reward performance.
* Ability to adjust to rapid change and demonstrate flexibility and good nature to both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Education/Training Requirements
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
* Healthcare education (e.g., PharmD, RPh, RN, PA, NP, CDE) is strongly preferred.
* Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or comparable work experience is strongly preferred.

Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: 5-7 Years

Minimum Level of any Required Qualifications, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, or any Relevant Knowledge, Job Skill or Equivalent Experience:

* Healthcare license in good standing, if applicable.
* Five years of pharmaceutical industry, chain pharmacy management, or biotech experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years of managing a team of field-based employees.
o Direct experience working in community pharmacy setting is preferred.
o Previous account management experience is a valued asset.
* Ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of contemporary community pharmacy (i.e., clinical services, MTM, transitions of care, collaborative practice) and the importance of this market segment to Sanofi.
* Ability to understand and explain complex data sets such as clinical trial and other study results.
* Demonstrate a deep business acumen and fundamental understanding of the nuances of the various business segments with community and specialty pharmacy.
* Qualified candidates will understand current issues and trends within the pharmacy marketplace, the pharmaceutical industry, health care delivery, and the potential impact of pharmacists in the evolution of the healthcare marketplace.
* Make appropriate trade off investment based decisions.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and execute initiatives within the pharmacy channel.
* Understanding of the specialty pharmacy channel is preferred.
* High levels of emotional intelligence with the proven ability to recognize needs within the account and develop valuable and meaningful solutions.
* Possess excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
* Strategic thinking, planning, communication, and analytical skills are critical requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to be solution-oriented through the application of advanced problem solving skills and skilled in garnering cross-functional support as required.
* Demonstrated competence in providing group presentations is required.
* Maintain a valid driver’s license and drive a company car in a safe manner to daily meetings and appointments.
* Adhere to all laws and regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry and compliance requirements of Sanofi.
* Knowledge of advanced outcomes analysis and modeling is also preferred.
