All over the world, Pfizer colleagues are working together to positively impact health for everyone, everywhere. Each position at Pfizer touches and contributes to the success of our business and our world. That's why, as one of the global leaders in the biopharmaceutical industry, Pfizer is committed to seeking out inspired new talent who share our core values and mission of making the world a healthier place.
Responsibilities
As a member of the PDM Transporter group, the candidate will participate in drug discovery/development by applying and developing in vitro cell based methods/technology/reagents to study the role of transporters in preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics and drug disposition.
The candidate will provide sound interpretation of transporter kinetics data obtained from various in vitro tools such as transfected cell lines. The tools will be applied to assess new chemical entities (NCEs) as transporter substrates/inhibitors and to predict drug-drug interaction liability. The role will also be responsible for the maintenance of cell lines and related supplies.
The candidate will be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of the background science related to transporters and the clinical implications thereof as well as focus on continuous improvement of the current in vitro transporter assays. The individual is expected to work closely with other scientists in the group to provide a battery of cell assays in support of the worldwide R&D portfolio. The role also involves close collaborations with portfolio science and technology groups and with commensurate functions across Pfizer sites to support project teams and develop new technology for study of ADME.
Qualifications
Training & Education:
Qualified candidates will have a BS/MS degree in pharmaceutics/biochemistry/biology or a related field,
Prior Experience:.
Minimum of 3 years after BS or 1 year after MS in performing in vitro ADME transporter studies - assay development, conducting experiments, data analysis and data interpretation in transporter transfected cell lines or primary cell systems.
Knowledge of transporters, hepatocytes systems, enzymes, cell culture and / or in vivo models is preferred. Experience in cell culture is required. Strong computer and mathematical skills and knowledge of enzyme/transporter kinetics is needed.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
