POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Manager and Stock Administrator will manage and process our semi-monthly payroll through ADP and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of our employee stock plan.  

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the successful candidate is an individual contributor whose areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:


Payroll (ADP):  
•   Process semi-monthly payroll utilizing ADP system for approximately 165 employees
•   Prepare bonus calculation and corresponding payroll related journal entries
•   Ensure compliance with accounting and tax rules and securities laws
•   Reconcile all general ledger payroll and benefit accounts
•   Process payment requests for 401(k) and other employee benefit plans
•   Manage 401K and workers comp audit
•   Manage year end W-2 filing
•   Work with the Human Resource Department in administering benefits, VOE etc.
•   Communicate payroll issues and regulatory changes to employees

Stock Administration (Equity Edge):
•   Day-to-day stock administration and semi-annual ESPP purchase
•   Maintain records of all stock option activities
•   Prepare Stock Option Agreements, stock option/exercise journal entries and reconcile related general ledger accounts
•   Supports the preparation of D&O Questionnaire and Proxy
•   Assist in the preparation of ASC718 (FAS123R) assumptions and expense allocation analysis
•   Manage the filing of Forms 3921 & 3922

General Accounting (Great Plains):
•   Update daily cash balance
•   Perform balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g. checking and investment accounts)
•   Supports SOX compliance, quarterly review and annual audit
•   Assist the department in complying with Rigel’s record retention policies and procedures
•   Prepare third party expense reimbursement and billing

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:  
•   BS in Accounting or equivalent experience
•   Experience at a publicly traded company is preferred but not necessary for this position.
•   5+ years payroll processing experience (preferably using ADP payroll system)
•   3+ years stock option program administration
•   Proficiency in MS Office skills, primarily Excel
•   Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills required
•   Able to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks & work independently
•   Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
•   Detail-oriented and possess excellent technical, analytical, organizational and time-management skills
