THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) FUNDED POSITION, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO END IN JULY 2015.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. operates the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center focused on cancer and AIDS research. The NCI Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research Branch develop resources to support the collection, processing and storage of human tissue specimens for research. These activities support the clinical translation of research and the future development of molecular-based medicines. Leidos Biomed supports the NCI in their mission by providing programmatic and technical expertise.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently looking for a Molecular Biospecimen Research Analyst to help Leidos Biomed Project Managers in the successful execution of programs supporting the National Cancer Institute. This position is part time, approximately 20 hours/week.

The technical oversight provided by this position requires experimental review which may lead to the discovery of proteomic and genomic signatures of cancer. You will have the opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary project supporting medical oncologists, geneticists, human tissue collection sites, database engineering team, and high throughout molecular analysis vendors providing the opportunity to grow in this emerging field. Develop technical knowledge in the area of biobanking/human biospecimen collection and the application of high throughput molecular assays to sample interrogation. Evaluate and summarize the emerging technical literature for pertinent technical achievements. Work across the multidisciplinary team to apply best practices in biostatistics and experimental design. Assist in the development of contractual statements of work (SOW) among a collaborative group to include, but not limited to monitor editing and approvals, format documents, produce final documents paying close attention to organization, content (for readability and consistency), spelling and grammar. Assist the Project Manager in the monitoring of project deliverables and timelines. This includes scientific evaluation of the supporting technical data to ensure it is meeting the product quality objectives. Assist the Project Manager in the organization of meeting and meeting schedules upon request of team leadership, including the creation of agendas and preparation of materials, including web meetings, video conferences, and teleconferences. Collaborate with the statistical teams to develop experimental models and scientific designs, help to collate, summarize and analyze and interpret data developed from these experiments. Attend meetings with customer to support the Leidos Biomed PM and the government staff in the development and tracking of realistic technical milestones for project execution. Assist in tracking budget expenses. May assist with budget analysis. Initiate and maintain communications with subcontractors and project collaborators. Write, review or evaluate Standard Operating Procedures supporting the program objectives. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Possession of a Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Mathematics or in a related field from an accredited college or university or eight (8) years of related experience in lieu of degree.

- Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. Equivalency.

- In addition to education, two years directly applicable work related experience in applying statistical design methods to human disease related research studies.

- Ability to rigorously evaluate technical information.

- This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in a molecular or genetic laboratory is desired.
