Vernon, IN, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

As the Packaging Engineer you are responsible for providing engineering and technical support to Packaging Operations. As well as assisting in packaging operations and providing technical leadership within the Packaging Engineering team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support for packing lines, including investigation and correction of process-related problems and deviations from standards.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for minor technical projects affecting packing processes and packing. Supports small capital and technical projects with guidance.
  • Responsible for identifying and executing projects to reduce product cost, improve product quality, improve yield, and reduce material usage.
  • Support design, evaluation, testing and qualification of new and modified packaging components
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including but not limited to Bill of Materials/specifications (BOM/BOS), Component Specifications, drawings and Technical Reports
  • Collaborates with Production, Engineering, Automation, and Quality to optimize end-to-end cycle time, packing productivity, product quality, and supply reliability.
  • Supports technical transfer and implementation of new technologies, equipment, and processes from R&D and other sites, to the Mt. Vernon site.
  • Designs and executes packing equipment performance qualifications.
  • Works with operating Technicians and Maintenance during fieldwork and execution of protocols.

The incumbent is not necessarily performing all the Major Responsibilities of the role immediately. The incumbent may begin by specializing in one or more of these responsibilities whilst working to develop a solid knowledge of the process being supported and applicable cGMPs. Over time the incumbent will be expected to obtain the necessary training to become skilled in all major responsibilities of the role.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Packaging, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or other related technical discipline.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present technical information.

Desired Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical packaging, production, process engineering, or project management.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean training preferred.
  • FMEA training or execution experience preferred.
