We are looking for a an experienced Operations Manager to work within the Alliance and Operations (A&O) group, part of Biometrics and Information Sciences (B&I).B&I drives good design to generate the data needed for quality decision making. The goal of B&I is to deliver value to the pipeline by excellence in delivery, improving decision making, and engaging and shaping the external environment whilst accessing and implementing innovative solutions. A&Ois the group in B&I that oversees strategic initiatives for B&I and supports processes and policies for all sections within B&I to ensure consistency with the department and business. A&O shapes and manages the B&I alliance environment for A&R partnerships and deliverables. Across both areas of A&O there is a consistent focus on budget, resource, change management and continuous improvement.

Focus and challenge of position
  • Works with Operations Lead/Operations Directors to support implementation of strategic goals for business processes, change management and continuous improvement initiatives for B&I
  • Provides support across B&I in the area of policy, process and people - ensuring consistency across B&I
  • Leads / supports specific area(s) of expertise within the Alliance and Operations Office across B&I
  • Leads / supports strategic initiatives for B&I including planning and implementation with guidance from senior personnel within the Alliance and Operations Office
  • Supports the reporting of business performance across B&I
  • Serves as a delegate for Operations Directors for specific tasks or activities, as necessary

Knowledge and experience required

  • University degree, or equivalent
  • Experience from within the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research organization
  • Ability to understand business strategy and goals
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that involve many decision makers, and develop multiple options/recommendations
  • Proven project leadership/project management experience from drug and/or non-drug projects.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: continuous improvement, change management, compliance, quality management, training / capability development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent collaboration required – needs the energy to work across global & functional boundaries both internally and externally
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship building skills
  • Experience in facilitation preferable
  • Proven flexibility, teamwork, and analytical skills
