As a Oncology Sales Trainer, Immuno-Oncology Lung in Gaithersburg, MD you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

As the you will have a unique opportunity to be a part of the new and growing Oncology franchise, the Oncology Sales Trainer, Immuno-Oncology Lung will be developing relationships and connections with a variety of departments. You will be part of the process to suggest and effect asset and resource development within a global, cross collaborative environment located in our Gaithersburg, MD office.

The scope of this role will be to develop, work with vendors to create learning, facilitate, assess and implement training both within AstraZeneca's Gaithersburg headquarters and in the field, and may include travel. This training role spans development in on- boarding, product training, selling-simulations, and Launch training related to the Lung Cancer and Immuno-Oncology Franchises. Additionally, the role also involves working collaboratively with colleagues across Commercial Learning, Marketing, Sales, Global and external vendor partners. Additionally, the role will be responsible for understanding the training needs of the field, conducting business reviews, planning strategically, and conducting occasional field rides and in conjunction with the Training and other key stakeholders.

The Oncology Sales Trainer, Immuno-Oncology Lung is responsible for delivering training to sales teams to meet the needs identified in the sales training plan, including product- specific training integrated with appropriate institutional learning concepts. Leading or co-leading onboarding for new sales representatives, introducing them to the organization, providing them with initial learning materials, and facilitating their integration into the organization at the US Headquarters or other pre-determined location. Leading or co-leading product training for assigned portfolio and around new products and indications. Leading or co-leading selling skills training for new hire and existing sales representatives, as well as outsource and co-promotion partners. Working collaboratively with Training Manager, Marketing and Sales Leadership to identify training needs and deliver approved solutions to sales representatives in the field. Providing feedback and coaching to sales representatives through field rides and workshops at meetings. Collaborating with Training Manager, Marketing and Sales Leadership, Commercial Learning Department, and Commercial Curricula Department to identify and refine training content for sales organization. Working closely with peer Trainers to facilitate training and understand training integration touch points.

Additionally, the Oncology Sales Trainer, Immuno-Oncology Lung is responsible for working to consistently incorporate training along with uniform testing, evaluations, and assessments. In tandem with Sales Learning Leadership, ensuring Marketing and Sales Leadership is aligned with PSS training initiatives. Identifying and share good practices for training that can be leveraged across other therapeutic areas. Aligning and implementing department and commercial strategies, plans, and initiatives, and model behaviors consistent with organizational culture, values, and policies. Ensuring Compliance, Regulatory guidelines, and accountabilities are clearly represented in all commercial learning material and training classes/workshops. Creating or identifying new learning concepts in order to continuously improve the quality and impact of training within AstraZeneca.

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Pharmaceutical Sales & Training experience; preferable experience in scientific and medical Oncology
  • Previous Oncology Training and/or Oncology Sales experience or background
  • Strong account planning including goal setting and resource allocation.

Preferred:

  • Training and sales experience during a product launch
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, and ability to create an engaging learning experience in a virtual environment.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines, and, identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and, adapt and promote change.
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills to be able to influence peers and decisions effectively.
  • Experience in training, curriculum design, and delivery, in live and virtual setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, writing, communication, project and vendor management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of market dynamics within the therapeutic areas.
  • Well versed in using multiple technologies to facilitate training and learning.
