As an Oncology GPO Account Director you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.  

   AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.  

   The Oncology GPO Account Director will lead the customer facing teams to create account plans that ensure access to our products, expand relationships within Group Purchasing Organizations that contract with community oncology accounts and identify areas for collaboration. We need your up to date knowledge and experience within the oncology marketplace (payer trends, provider groups, hospital systems, distribution, etc.) to ensure the success of our growing oncology portfolio. You will manage major national GPO accounts with significant impact on overall AZ Oncology sales.  

   The Oncology GPO Account Director is responsible for leading customer engagement with identified oncology GPO accounts to develop and implement strategic solutions to champion the patient throughout their journey. Building new and expanding existing account relationships with a focus on the oncology GPO business (c-suite, clinical management, pharmacy management, practice membership management). Leading strategic oncology portfolio account planning through insights derived from customer interactions and cross-functional collaboration within AstraZeneca (sales, MAPS, brand, diagnostic, reimbursement and medical teams.

   Additionally, the Oncology GPO Account Director is responsible for integrating oncology account plan and management activities across customer facing teams and brand teams with clear objectives and accountability. Leading execution of cross-functional oncology collaboration within identified oncology GPO accounts and their significant membership to deliver on account plans. Proactive in identifying issues and challenges with GPOs and their membership accounts. Engaging with appropriate resources in headquarters for development of customer solutions and contracts.  



  •      Bachelor's degree      
         Prior Oncology account management, managed care, sales, brand or reimbursement experience.    
  •      Demonstrated leadership, project management and team development ability      
         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence peers and management      
         Demonstrated communication and platform skills      
         Understanding of financial concepts and contracting issues including legal and best price implications      
         Strong customer facing skills      


  •      Prior Oncology Group Purchasing Organizations experience    
  •      Demonstrated negotiating capability    
  •      Demonstrated ability to execute contracting, including assessing legal and best price implications    
  •      Prior experience in sales management or general management    
  •      Prior experience in managed care at a pharmaceutical company or managed care organization
