Job Description:
New Scientist is seeking to recruit a dynamic, bright and talented individual with the drive and capabilities to manage its successful Australian sales team, selling Print and Digital Display advertising opportunities, 360 creative projects and partnership solutions, plus oversee the NS Recruitment proposition into the fast moving world of consumer/business markets.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in Display and Recruitment sales and sales management and be able to demonstrate a full mix of sales attributes: Be structured, adaptable and have worked successfully in a consumer market. Current direct client and agency contacts will be a distinct advantage.
He or she must thrive in an ever changing and competitive market place, is a team player and is willing and able to combine innovative thinking with hands-on execution of sales from start to finish. Essential in this role are a strong drive to maximize revenue.

In addition you will take responsibility for some larger key accounts to ensure you’re flexing your sales skills and keeping close to the market place.
Reporting to the Publisher, you will be responsible for managing the Australian Sales team.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• An understanding of the consumer magazine marketplace
• Highly motivated
• Proven media sales experience
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Strong organizational ability
• Commercial acumen
• Experience managing sales people
• Strong coaching and training skills
• Able to build exceptional external and internal relationships
• Flexibility – this is not a 9 – 5 job
• Most of all, the successful candidate should have a great personality, drive, charisma and motivation for what is fantastic opportunity to make a difference on a unique magazine
