As a National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development by leveraging novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also has a number of promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within areas such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

The National Liaison Lead – Respiratory is responsible for the development and execution of the field Medical Affairs strategy in support of the organization's business strategy and objectives, working closely with the Therapeutic Area VP. The National Liaison Lead – Respiratory is also accountable for leading and managing Field Medical Affairs resources in collaboration across the Respiratory Therapeutic Area (TA), and delivering on the Medical Plan for Respiratory marketed products and medicines in development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you are accountable for leadership and direction of a Respiratory Field Medical Team, including leadership of a therapeutic area strategy, leadership of first-line managers, optimization of resources, best practice sharing, planning and alignment of priorities. As a member of the Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development of the Therapeutic Area strategy and objectives. As National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you will represent Field Medical Team on the Medical affairs Therapeutic Area Leadership Team to ensure Field Medical Objectives are incorporated into the Therapeutic Area Strategy.

Additionally as National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you are accountable for the integration and management of application Field Medical deliverables including management, metrics and analysis, and project management. You will enable best practice sharing and consistent use of commonly defined processes, tools, and templates across the other Therapeutic areas and ensure the team is compliant with all guidelines and policies.

In this exciting role, you will facilitate timely and effective decision-making within the Therapeutic Area Team; support the collaboration with key stakeholders to identify creative and innovative approaches to scientific information delivery; lead and manage change initiatives to enable positive business outcomes; and serve as a role model fostering personal accountability and ownership of individual and team success.

As National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you will anticipate leadership development needs through demonstrated broad business perspective and effective needs analysis and provide analysis and expertise to facilitate timely and effective decision making for Medical Affairs resource planning and management; business planning and strategy; and policy decisions to anticipate and/or resolve risks/issues.

Additionally as National Liaison Lead – Respiratory, you will represent the key interface between the needs of the US Health Care Practitioners, other Clinical Decision Makers, and Brand Team through interactions with all Medical Affairs functions; work with Global colleagues to ensure alignment on strategy, execution, and best in class practices.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Doctorate in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry preferably in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development
  • Experience leading Field Medical teams
  • Experience with product medical strategy development and execution
  • Demonstrated experience in drug information communication
  • Thorough knowledge of FDA requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of medical strategy, clinical development, and Field Medical areas
  • Knowledge of health outcomes
  • Ability to manage a diverse group of responsibilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Desirable Requirements
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical Field Medical experience
  • > 3 years’ experience in a strategy-setting role within Medical Affairs
  • Strong experience/knowledge in respiratory therapeutic area
