Job Description

We are seeking talented and motivated synthetic/medicinal chemists to provide medicinal chemistry support for drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will perform organic synthesis experiments and purification procedures, using standard organic chemistry laboratory techniques or new methods from the literature to obtain pure characterized compounds for biological evaluation. State of the art software tools and high throughput synthesis robotics are utilized where appropriate. The incumbents are expected to be able to execute and trouble-shoot synthetic routes to target molecules. An ability to interpret basic analytical and structural data is expected. Within the role the incumbent is expected to, (1) develop increasingly independent ability to design synthetic routes and, (2) develop a basic understanding of medicinal chemistry and the ability to interpret biological data, such that they can begin to make new target proposals.
Candidates will typically possess a B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry with preferably 2-5 years experience in the synthesis and characterization of organic compounds. Experience with common spectroscopy (NMR, IR, UV, MS) and analytical techniques required. Experience with chromatography purification systems is required. Good communication skills are necessary, together with a naturally collaborative style for effective drug discovery team participation.
