Summary:

The Medical Lab Scientist II performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens.
  • Interprets, documents, and reports test results.
  • Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and references ranges for test methods.
  • Serves as a resource to staff as needed.
  • Anticipates and responds to changing and/or emergency situations.
  • Meets Medical Lab Scientist I expectations.
  • Assumes charge/shift leader as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to be on-call.

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

    Licenses & Certifications:

    Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (General) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) or Medical Technologist by the American Medical Technologists MT(AMT) is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date.
