Main Duties and Responsibilities

Scope

As the Material Handler I/II, you will follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in daily activities. Performs receiving, picking, shipping, equipment monitoring and material control. Revises SOP’s. Initiates and completes deviations, as required. You will provide leadership to other team members.

  • You will follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in daily activities
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • You will be responsible for shipment of hazardous materials and samples. You will be responsible for receiving GMP and non-GMP materials. You will utilize SAP to record all receipts.
  • Picking and Delivery Process
  • You will be responsible for picking, packing, loading and delivering GMP materials to regional clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities. You must be capable of writing bills of lading. You will be responsible for storage and handling of hazardous materials.
  • You will utilize material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Storage, Handling and Shipment of Bulk Drug Substance (BDS)
  • You will be responsible for pressure monitoring, storage and shipment of tanks and bags containing BDS. This includes execution of highly proceduralized handling and shipping processes.
  • Inventory Control Process
  • You will be responsible for control of quarantined and released materials.
  • You will assist Quality Assurance in the raw material release process.
  • You will maintain batch segregation of both quarantined and released materials.
  • You will be responsible for control of cell bank inventories. You will process returns, rejections and destruction of materials.
  • Outgoing Mail
  • You will be responsible for sorting, delivering and processing mail. Also, you will be responsible for processing outgoing mail via USPS, Fed Ex, UPS, etc.
  • Routine Maintenance
  • You will be responsible for monitoring and maintenance of material storage and handling equipment, including temperature monitoring devices and forklifts.
  • You will be responsible for handling of gas cylinders. You will be responsible for warehouse maintenance activities, including routine cleaning.
  • You may be responsible for additional warehouse management activities, including fleet maintenance, equipment maintenance and procurement of equipment and materials.
  • You may serve as team leader, when required. You will perform routine operation checks and cleaning. You will schedule annual DOT inspections, including DOT recertifications.
  • You will arrange special shipments. You will process international mail. Other duties as assigned.
  • You will be expected to carry the department cell phone and respond to calls.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Preferred Education

  • High school diploma, some college course work in Business, Life sciences
  • Class C commercial drivers license (CDL) with hazmat endorsement required
  • Training and certification in shipment of hazardous materials and forklift operation required

Preferred Years of Experience

For Material Handler I:

  • 0-3 years warehouse or supply chain logistics experience

For Material Handler II:

  • 3-5 years warehouse or supply chain logistics experience

Desirable Requirements

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Drivers license required. D.O.T. certification and forklift certification a plus
  • Class C commercial drivers license (CDL) with hazmat endorsement required
  • Training and certification in shipment of hazardous materials and forklift operation required

Organization Skills

  • Ability to prioritize work requirements, must be well organized and able to manage time efficiently, and must have a strong sense of responsibility

Computer Skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, EXCEL and Word a plus. Experience using SAP a plus
