Job Description

We are seeking a Manager/Director of Lab Informatics with hands-on enterprise application development experience. This position will lead the Lab Informatics team in the Reproductive and Genetic Health Business Unit in Redwood City, California (formerly Verinata Health), focusing on the design, development and maintenance of the Company’s scientific and commercial software solutions. The job also involves strong communication and collaboration with marketing, sales, finance, R&D, and clinical laboratory groups in a fast-paced biotechnology environment to gather business and
functional requirements and deliver applications that improve and support business processes. The candidate will lead design and development of customization and integration of the LIMS and other software /  database applications.


Responsibilities

•Lead and manage the lab informatics group which is responsible for laboratory information management system (LIMS) implementation and web application development
•Lead, design, and development of the data warehouse and related applications serving multiple functional groups
•Lead software verification and validation efforts for CLIA/CAP certified lab
•Work cross functionally with all stakeholders to understand the business processes, gather user and functional requirements, prioritize  projects and actively
•Technical management of production applications and servers including software installation, configuration, testing and release, version control, and change management.
•Establish and maintain software development standards and best practice

Requirements

Requirements:

•B.S. in Computer Science or related field. Advanced degrees are a plus
•5+ years of relevant experience, e.g. creating and maintaining software for a
clinical diagnostic product or a working scientific laboratory.
•3+ years of experience building and managing software development projects/teams
•2+ years of experience collaborating with multiple functional groups to deliver software solutions
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Expert in software development for Windows and UNIX/LINUX environment.
•Software application development using cross-platform (Java, C++) and Microsoft (C#) languages and technologies.
•Web server programming: IIS, Apache, ASP.Net MVC
•Knowledge of Linux OS and scripting languages (Python / Perl) is a strong plus.
•RDBMS: SQL Server / Oracle / MySQL / Postgres
•Design methodologies: OOAD / UML
•Experience with bioinformatics pipelines and analytical software is a strong plus
•Experience with large data volume applications is a plus
•Expertise in full cycle of software development process and standard software development best practices:
•Waterfall and agile methodologies
•Source code control, unit testing, in-code documentation and automated build environments.
•Experience with design and maintenance of systems and documentation in accordance with CLIA or FDA regulations for validated computer systems is desired.
