Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) Directorate is responsible for laboratory space, administrative space, infrastructure, campus landscape, planning, and design, and construction management at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.

Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for:
Maintenance and utilities in a 330,000 square foot facility
Supervision of Custodial Services Supervisor
Coordinating and communicating of preventative maintenance, special assist, work orders, and projects with FME staff, external contractors under the guidance of the Facility Manager
Safety awareness, safety policies, and procedures
Assigning work to staff, and daily plans
Inspecting work
Preparing labor and material cost estimates of work for entry
Making recommendations to improve efficiency of operations
Assisting the Facility Manager and Custodial Supervisor to resolve problems as they arise
Backing up the Facility Manager and Custodial Services Supervisor
Writing annual performance reviews
Providing after hours support


To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
6-year minimal experience and exposure to craft trades (e.g., carpentry, mechanical, custodial)
1 year in a supervisory capacity
Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Experience with facility management
Previous experience with custodial operations
Previous experience with laboratory construction and renovations, plant steam operations, theory and equipment used in industrial heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems
Knowledgeable in cGMP/cGLP requirements for clinical manufacturing and research laboratories
Experience with CMMS (Maximo)
State of Maryland Grade 1 Stationary Engineer License
