Description

FibroGen, Inc., a leading pre-IPO biotechnology company with development stage projects, seeks a seasoned licensing attorney to manage diverse projects as part of its stable, well-staffed legal department.  We offer a unique opportunity to work with an exceptionally strong in-house team on a diverse pipeline of clinical development, drug discovery and development programs across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful applicant will join FibroGen’s stable legal department consisting of multiple other in-house attorneys and contract administrator/paralegals.  Responsibilities will include independently managing a broad array of complex projects, including commercial and academic licenses and collaborations, corporate contracts including clinical trial, license, manufacturing, consulting, material transfer, vendor services and master agreements, as well as activities supporting our China subsidiary and its development and commercialization activities.  This position requires the successful candidate to be in the office on a daily basis and available to interact with management and internal clients

Requirements

* JD degree with 5-10+ years licensing experience required
* Active member of the California bar
* Demonstrable Licensing Experience
* Scientific, Medical, or Clinical background
* Flexible and able to work in a team or individually in a dynamic organization
* Ability to interact with management and internal clients effectively on legal and business questions
* Sense of humor

Relevant Experience (Desirable but not required):

* Registered Patent Attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office
* Experience working with Biotechnology/life sciences companies
* Corporate transactional, governance and securities law experience
* Top law firm and law school credentials
* In-house experience
* Ability to speak fluent Mandarin and read and write in Simplified Chinese
* Legal Experience in working in or with People’s Republic of China
