As an HR Services Specialist, in Gaithersburg, MD, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working as a key member of the centralized HR Services Team in-country, we are looking for an experienced HR practitioner to provide expertise, advice and direction on absence & disability management programs (Short-Term Disability, FMLA, Workers’ Comp, Long-Term Disability). This includes, but is not limited to ownership of leave of absence policies, programs and policies, management of leave of absence vendors, and coordination with various stakeholders (e.g., payroll, benefits) on leave administration.

Overall our team’s objective is to provide efficient process execution, effective query resolution and accurate leave of absence data in support of an excellent customer experience. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to provide program/process ownership and coordination for HR programs such as short-term disability, FMLA, family bonding, Workers’ Compensation, ADAAA, etc., and drive the effective and efficient management of our leave programs by working with stakeholders such as the My HR Advisory Team, Payroll, Benefits, Legal, HRIT, HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, etc. You’ll also drive our organizational / simplification processes through continuous improvement; identify patterns of ongoing issue areas and recommend potential resolutions across data, process, system and people/training, and review and keep current of external leave management best practice. You will need to ensure employee and company data related to leaves of absence is timely and accurate, while managing multiple leave of absence vendors, ensuring that vendors are delivering as expected. Be prepared to provide support on investigations/litigation regarding disability and Workers’ Compensation, as well as provide support and guidance to Leave of Absence Advisors and handling more difficult, escalated calls that overextend the reach of team members' experience or authority

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferably nursing
  • Registered Nurse license is preferred for clinic support, case management expertise and review of ADAAA cases
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of federal and state leave related regulations including FMLA, ADAAA (including the interactive process), Workers’ Compensation and HIPAA is preferred
  • Experience of delivering against Service Level agreements, including working with third party providers to meet work deadlines
  • Highly developed communications, organization and interpersonal skills with ability to engage with senior level stakeholders
  • Keen attention to detail and focus on data accuracy and privacy while managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding of common HR and service centre enabling technologies – e.g. case management, telephony and online user portals – and typical data integrations required
  • Ability to manage competing tasks efficiently and prioritize workload within a matrixed team environment
