As a Leave of Absence Analyst, in Gaithersburg, MD, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working as a key member of the centralized HR Services Team in-country, we are looking for an experienced HR practitioner support day-to-day operations of leave of absence administration. This will include handling difficult and/or escalated questions from employees, HR or outsourced vendors.

Overall our team’s objective is to provide efficient process execution, effective query resolution and accurate leave of absence data in support of an excellent customer experience.

In this exciting roll, you will have the opportunity to; support efficient and effective leaves of absence administration, including partnering with internal and outsourced partners for Short-Term Disability, FMLA, Workers’ Comp, Long-Term Disability, by maintaining and updating data to ensure a compliant, accurate system of record. You’ll coordinate leave requests with applicable time off; communicate changes to payroll in timely manner, partner with employees, managers and HR Partners/Employee Relations on escalated issues/concerns and assist in development of action plans to address these issues/concerns. You’ll also be required to manage local incident and complaint resolution, reviewing and escalating operational issues as necessary, ensure all work is compliant with relevant policies, processes and laws, and contribute to the development of new operational policies and procedures. Lastly, you’ll have responsibility for recommending operational changes/adoptions and identifying inefficiencies within current processes by proposing implementing and measuring enhancements to streamline business practices and increase productivity and quality.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferably nursing
  • 1-2 years related experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of federal and state leave related regulations including FMLA, ADAAA (including the interactive process), Workers’ Compensation and HIPAA is preferred
  • Managing data in HRIS system, preferred
  • Experience of working with third party providers
  • Highly developed communications, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Keen attention to detail and focus on data accuracy and privacy while managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding of common HR and service centre enabling technologies – e.g. case management, telephony and online user portals – and typical data integrations preferred
  • Ability to manage competing tasks efficiently and prioritize workload within a matrixed team environment
  • Enjoys working as part of a lively and hard-working team, performing together under pressure to meet deadlines
