Job Description


Ambrx is a biopharmaceutical company enabling a new field of protein medicinal chemistry, using a fundamentally new technology that directs incorporation of amino acids beyond nature’s conserved set into biosynthetic proteins to produce high value biologics products.  Ambrx is seeking a highly motivated scientist to be a key member of a fast-paced and dynamic organization.  

The successful candidate is a hands on in vivo biologist and key member of the Pharmacology Department.  The position will support oncology targets in the rapidly expanding Antibody Drug Conjugate and Bi-specifics program.  The candidate will help to advance programs from early discovery to filing IND.

Responsibilities:

•   Lead and manage in house in vivo team to support the oncology pipeline
•   Manage external in vivo study activities through CROs and collaborators
•   Design, develop and execute disease model development and in vivo pharmacology studies (e.g., PK and efficacy)
•   Manage a vivarium core facility and Chair the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)  
•   Write study plans/reports, monthly reports, and regulatory documents
•   Present data and communicate opinions effectively in project team meetings and collaborator meetings


Requirements


?   Ph.D. in Biology, Pharmacology or a related scientific discipline with at least 6 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience
?   Extensive hands-on experience in establishing oncology disease models and conducting in vivo efficacy/PD and PK studies
?   Experience in establishing and managing the vivarium and the IACUC
?   Experience in biologics drug development for cancer therapeutics
?   Experience in IND filing is a plus
?   Proven critical thinking, result interpretation, and systematic troubleshooting capability in the design and execution of scientific experiments  
?   Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills are required
?   Ability to perform in a goal-oriented, fast-paced, matrixed team environment
?   Strong multi-tasking skills to handle multiple ongoing projects
