HospiraLead Engineer, Global Process  Equipment Engineering The primary function of the Lead Engineer is to execute the process and equipment engineering responsibilities for all global capital projects at the associated manufacturing sites. The incumbent will provide and lead the necessary resources (internal and external), capital and process engineering support to ensure the success of all projects under the direction of the local global engineering team. The leader is responsible to indirectly support the site process and equipment engineering team as necessary to achieve site priorities and objectives.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Leads global process and equipment resources (internal and external) in the execution of process and equipment capital improvement projects at the assigned Hospira manufacturing sites. Lead will ensure global resources deployed at the manufacturing sites effectively manage the process engineering portion of capital projects in collaboration with project and automation teams from concept through validation. - Provides leadership for the planning, development and implementation of programs and projects to improve equipment design in support of the Hospira manufacturing sites to facilitate the implementation of cost reductions, new product launches and ongoing process maintenance. - Provides technical management and administrative control for equipment and process engineering services. Integrates cost reduction, new product and ongoing process/equipment support into capital plans. - As a leader of the equipment and process engineering resources, the incumbent is responsible for the timely completion of technically sound and functional manufacturing lines which meet the project performance objectives and are within the appropriated budgets. Dollar value of project responsibility is $ 5MM to $50MM annually.- Has administrative accountability and budgetary responsibility consisting of salary/fringe, operating and personnel expenses for his/her direct reports. - Establishes and leads work teams of process and equipment engineers and technicians (internal and external) to accomplish the process and equipment engineering responsibilities for global capital projects. Establishes priorities in relation to other project work being done in the Corporation/Department. Ascertains the Global Engineering's rules, policies and procedures when appropriate. - Leads engineering work in progress to insure that there is adequate interface and coordination with various regulatory groups to insure compliance with Safety, Validation, Quality Assurance and Environmental Control regulations and policies. - Consults on the engineering design of new processes and equipment for compliance with Global standards and FDA regulation and federal law. - Participates in the preparation of the Capital Plan from concepts to budgetary estimates.

Requirements

Skills/Experience Education/Certification- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; specifically Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical. Master's degree is optional. - Technical training in pharmaceutical process design (i.e. Aseptic filling, packaging). Plant experience is preferred. - Not less than 8 years pharmaceutical industry experience- A minimum of 10 years experience in process and equipment engineering. A minimum of 6 years experience managing consulting and contract engineering resources in support of capital project implementation. - Process design, equipment selection, cost estimating, scheduling and people management experience are required. - Academic training or practical experience in financial analysis and economic evaluation is necessary to ensure that proper business considerations are included in the decision - making process.
