Hospira Lead Engineer, Global Engineering Project Management The primary function of the Lead Engineer, Global Engineering Project Management is to be the Project Manager lead for all Capital investments being executed by Global Engineering at the assigned Hospira site(s). He/she will provide the necessary leadership, resources (internal and external) and management support to ensure the success of all Global Engineering projects at the specified site(s). The engineer is also responsible to directly manage projects as assigned by the Managing Engineer, Global Engineering Project Management and to partner with other Global Engineering Project Managers to ensure proper project management of all Capital investments globally. 15-25% travel is required MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Leads site based project managers (internal and external) in the execution of Capital investment projects at specified Hospira's manufacturing site(s).- Accountable for Capital projects to be delivered on schedule and budget and to meet customer / business requirements.- Responsible to drive site based project managers to exhibit leadership and ownership of Capital projects from concept to completion of first lot to stock / licensure- Provides leadership for the planning, development, and ongoing tracking of annual Capital spending plan for the specified site(s). Annual Global Engineeirng Capital spend for site(s) ranges from $5MM to $15MM. - Integrates cost reduction, best project management skills, and ongoing execution improvement into capital projects. - Partner with other site based engineering and project management staff- Responsible for partnering with Safety organization to ensure proper safety programs are in place and effective (meet corporate goals) for both Hospira and construction personnel. - Assigns work to project managers. Establishes priorities in relation to other project work being done in the Corporation/Department. Ascertains the Global Engineering's rules, policies and procedures when appropriate. - Manages engineering work in progress to insure that there is adequate interface and coordination with various regulatory groups to insure compliance with Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Control regulations and policies. - Consults on the engineering design of new facilities, processes, and equipment for compliance with Global standards and FDA regulation and federal law. - Key participant in the preparation of the Capital Plan from concepts to budgetary estimates.- Manages the development of the assigned project managers to constantly improve the breadth of technical and project management knowledge. - Location will be at one of existing sites: Rocky Mount, North Carolina, McPherson, Kansas, or Austin, Texas.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; specifically Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical. Master's degree preferred. - Not less than 4 years pharmaceutical industry experience preferred- Technical experience in pharmaceutical facility design and construction (i.e. Aseptic filling, packaging). Plant experience at the management level is preferred. - A minimum of 8 years experience in project management preferred. A minimum of 4 years experience managing consulting and contract engineering resources in support of capital project implementation preferred. - Project management, cost estimating, scheduling, and people management experience are required.
