Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Facilities Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of facility infrastructure, laboratory design and functional layout, building mechanical and process systems operation, contracted design and vendor services, project scheduling of contracted work, and preventative maintenance repair activities.

The Laboratory Facilities Specialist interfaces and supports other key functional areas at Natera such as Operations, R&D, EH&S and general office administration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Support company research and production activity

•Develop and maintain space plan charts, office reconfigurations, and workstation/office task area assignment at three company sites comprising of 35,000 sf of laboratory and 150,000 sf of office space.

•Interface with Property Management personnel on building related service, maintenance and repair events.

•Provide oversight to routine maintenance of safety equipment including, safety-eyewash shower testing, Fire Life Safety apparatus, biosafety, chemical and fume hoods.

•Support IT staff with building security; card access door system hardware.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

•At minimum 5 years of work experience in Facilities related field

•BS or equivalent experience required.  MS preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

•Good verbal and written skills to articulate details and communicate effectively across departments.
•Ability to respond to calls and emergencies after­hours.

•Proficiency with AutoDesk AutoCad, MS Office, Google Docs required.

•Technical education and/or hands-on experience in the following are required: HVAC-R design and operation, electrical power distribution, process water (RO/DI) and compressed air systems (CDA), building management systems (BMS/BAS).

•General knowledge of Microbiological processes including room differential pressurization controls and work flow a plus.

•Experience developing and managing maintenance procedures (SOP’s), predictive-preventative maintenance service agreements and routine work, requiring coordination with contracted mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

•Ability to lift up to 50lbs in addition to physical demand of standing for an extended period of time.

•Ability to use a computer keyboard, handheld scanning device, and communicate over the telephone and read printed materials.

•Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.
