Job Description

LGC provides a range of measurement products and services which underpin the safety, health and security of the public, including reference materials and proficiency testing, genomics solutions, services and instrumentation, and expert sample analysis and interpretation. Our customers are across a number of end markets including Pharmaceuticals, Agricultural Biotechnology, Food, Environment, Government and Academia.

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair activities associated with the Oligonucleotide manufacturing equipment. This includes creating documentation for maintenance activities, performing the maintenance activities, and training production staff to perform maintenance activities. Responsibilities will also include recommending and implementing improvements to the system. Reporting on the status and key metrics of the equipment will also be performed routinely.

Key accountabilities:

•    Maintain daily operations of the Oligonucleotide Manufacturing equipment.
•    Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all varieties of equipment which will include electrical and mechanical failure modes.
•    Source and stock replacement parts for all equipment
•    Administer service contracts associated with equipment.
•    Perform functional and preventative maintenance activities associated with all equipment.
•    Create documentation for maintenance activities, performing the maintenance activities, and training production staff to perform maintenance activities.
•    Recommend and implement improvements to systems and equipment.
•    Routinely report on the status and key metrics of the equipment and down times .
•    Support additional production equipment and facilities operations as needed.

Equipment Responsibilities:

•    Tecan EVO and Genesis systems
•    Beckman FX
•    Hamilton 4000 liquid handlers
•    SpeedVac concentrators
•    Thermo Scientific Explorer concentrators
•    Vacuum pumps
•    Gilson pumps, PDAs and 215 liquid handlers
•    Various other lab instrumentation as needed  

Requirements

Education/Experience:  
•   A Technical degree (Bachelors) in electronics/instrumentation or equivalent.
•   A familiarity with Chemistry and basic HPLC operation or equivalent.
•   A foundation in electronic and electrical control circuitry.
•   Experience with mechanical troubleshooting and equipment   repair.
•   Experience with service contract   administration/maintenance.
Proven experience in interpersonal communication
