The Biotechnology and Immunology Research Division of Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join our Immunology team. This team is dedicated to investigate mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and to discover and validate novel targets of interest leading to the generation and development of biotherapeutics. The focus of the studies is to develop innovative and effective strategies by which different antibodies modulate the immune system and induce tolerance. You will work at the interface of immunology and formulation development to incorporate unique reagents developed by the protein engineering team into innovative formulations/delivery systems and assess their activity using both in vivo and in vitro approaches.You will be part of a growing community of post-doctoral fellows at Eli Lilly in various US and global sites who have the opportunity to do great fundamental research but also to experience the process of drug discovery research.

We are looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with expertise in Immunology preferably integrated with formulation development of biotherapeutics. Key experience should include:

•In vitro cell biology and in vivo rodent immunobiology model documented in high quality publications. You should be able to integrate these techniques with novel technologies in the discovery of new biology related to autoimmune diseases.
•Ability to plan independently and execute experiments, develop reagents, methods and assays, record and interpret data, and succinctly communicate results in oral and written form.
•Integrate into a multidisciplinary team consisting of scientists with expertise in immunology, formulation development, protein biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, quantitative mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, chromatography, and statistics.

*Basic Qualifications  

•Ph.D. in Immunology, Cellular/molecular biology, Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline with a strong background in immunology.

Additional Skills/Preferences  

Some additional preferred skills we'd like to see are:
•Expertise in cellular and molecular immunology, flow cytometry and in vivo models of autoimmune diseases (experience with in vivo models of mucosal inflammation and tolerance induction is a plus).
•A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals (in immunology, mucosal immunology or cell biology) demonstrating conceptualization research ideas and execution.
•Experience in formulation development for biologics (mAbs) in particles, polymers, hydrogels, etc. is highly desirable
•Analytical method development for proteins in different formulations.
•Knowledge of formulation strategies for localized oral delivery of biotherapeutics.
•Strong problem solving, data analysis and interpretation skills.
•Highly motivated, flexible and willing to learn new techniques.
•Ability to present data and summarize conclusions in written and oral forms.
•Motivated to attend scientific meetings, publish, and establish a vigorous research program and develop external collaborations with key investigators in the field.
•Careful/accurate record keeping.
•Knowledgeable, creative, and collaborative.
