Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This Individual Contributor position will hold responsibility for profitable achievement of the sales objectives for Bio-Techne Assay solutions : Luminex full US management and SimplePlex throughout the territory. The Immunoassay Specialist will develop and execute strategic plans for the assay solutions portfolio to increase sales and grow market share in the territory.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assay Solution Pipeline
The Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for generating sales in the territory for the Assay solution portfolio focusing on instrumentation to drive sales of reagents and custom development. The Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for the Luminex category and pipeline. This includes accountability for the performance of the product group and implementation of Bio-Techne’s strategic plan and priorities.

Project Management
The Immunoassay Specialsit will own the whole sales and post-sales process.  This will include:
Working with the Sales team on lead generation
Issuing of quotations & contracts
Assisting Technical Service with technical issues and enquiries
Installation of equipment
Service contracts

Co-ordination with Sales Team
The Immunoassay Specialist Immunoassay Specialist will need to work closely with the Sales staff to ensure we provide a coordinated approach to customers and promote all the solutions Bio-Techne can provide.  Once discussions on instrument purchase are in progress, it is important to keep relevant sales staff aware of progress whilst taking the lead in all communications with the customer.

Training of customer facing teams
The Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for the training of Sales staff to ensure credibility statements and initial value solutions are in line with Company objectives and goals as well as ensuring staff are able to qualify leads and identify valuable opportunities.


Marketing Participation
The Immunoassay Specialist will work with Product Marketing and MARCOM on presenting the existing and new service opportunities in a way that will provide confidence and communicate the existing capabilities of Bio-Techne.  They will also provide input into the Marketing programs being implemented that impact the Luminex portfolio and partner with Marketing on collateral needed to support the portfolio. The Immunoassay Specialist will keep Marketing informed and provide input for all MARCOM programs to be implemented in relation to the portfolio. In addition, the Immunoassay Specialist is expected to attend relevant trade shows and conferences for intelligence gathering and promotional purposes.

Strategic direction
The Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for creating a pricing strategy for Luminex that is competitive and provides the best value and return. They will provide proactive strategies to prepare market for what is coming & position existing products for optimal performance. Market data should be used to drive decisions considering the short/long term effects and impacts on the portfolio.

Forecasting
The Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for the performance of the Luminex product category for EMEA.  This includes an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the product range and information that will help drive growth. Forecasts of the pipeline are required monthly to allow operations to manage staffing levels.  Dashboards should be created to track progress and the Business Manager should proactively communicate with sales leaders to influence strategy. In addition forecasts on the SimplePlex product line will be required.

Competitor information
Market intelligence of competitive products and services to Luminex should be collated and compared to the Bio-Techne portfolio.  This should include VOC data. Based on competitor information the Immunoassay Specialist is responsible for creating Value Proposition comparisons, full training plans for the sales team and a suite of tactics to allow us to win business by using our reagent capabilities

Budget responsibility
Responsible for the preparation of annual sales and expenditure budgets and the ensuring operating expenditure is within budget each financial year.

Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
A minimum of 10 years customer facing experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and/or Biology is required but advanced degree is preferred. Scientific knowledge and understanding of the current product portfolios provided by Bio-Techne and all of their brands is essential.  Knowledge will need to be kept up to date and relevant for product areas in the portfolio. Market knowledge of European academia, industry, governments, and applied science markets. Ability to travel, attend internal meetings, visit customer locations is desired. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.  Computer entry and/or typing skills are desirable.  Must be able to work in a fast pace environment, multi task, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
