As a Immuno-Oncology Regional Thought Leader Marketing Manager in Gaithersburg, MD you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.
The Immuno-Oncology Regional Thought Leader Marketing Manager will be responsible for executing an external strategic plan with key customers across the Immuno-Oncology portfolio in order to position AstraZeneca (AZ) externally as a commercial leader of cancer treatment with immuno-oncology.
This position will report directly into the Director of Customer Strategy and will work in close partnership with cross functional partners including marketing, field sales, medical, market access and other functions in order to play a critical role in ensuring the franchise has a market leadership presence with key customers.
The Immuno-Oncology Regional Thought Leader Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing engagement plans with Key Customers resulting in building deep relationships and transfer of product and disease state information. Utilizing input from external thought leaders to help build market leadership and commercial strategies. Executing the franchise strategic plan at national, regional, and local scientific meetings. Escalating market challenges/barriers to leadership to consider appropriate ways to address these between medical affairs and commercial. Collaborating with external experts to help ensure medical accuracy and real world strategy for marketed materials. Demonstrating strong business acumen skills and ability to manage timelines, process, and procedures. Developing expertise on thought leaders and the Bladder, Lung, Head & Neck Cancers marketplaces. Leading and facilitate thought leader interactions across multiple teams.
- Bachelor's Degree; preferably in a relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with experience in one or more of the following: managed markets, brand marketing, sales management, strategic planning
- Oncology experience
- Skilled in relationship building with thought leaders
- Based in the Western region of the United States.
- Be available to work some evenings and weekends
- Overnight travel will be required
- Expected travel 50% -70% monthly
- Great communication skills
- Ability to manage complex projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead without authority
- Ability to gauge the feasibility, impact and risks of proposed programs
- Comfort operating in a highly regulated environment and industry
