North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.

This role is responsible for insight support within the evolving Market Access Customer Insight Team. The individual in this role will provide comprehensive insight and analytic support for Integrated Health Systems with principal support to Primary Care EBDs (Inhaled Respiratory & Diabetes). This role will work closely with Commercial and Sales Force Operations, as well as colleagues across Insight functions (Brand Insight, Market Access Insight, and Marketing Sciences).

The Health System Insight Leader will assist internal customers by generating key insights that are utilized in the development of strategic operational plans and deployment strategies for key health systems. This individual will interpret market, customer, and competitor information providing insight to assess opportunity and support business decisions, as well as helping customers utilize these insights to shape future strategic initiatives.

The individual will work closely with the Market Access Customer Insight Director to capture ad-hoc business requests and desired outcomes, make recommendations, and provide insight and guidance to further progress Health System Insight tools and capabilities.


Work closely with the Primary Care Sales EBDs to develop and maintain an understanding of the key customer-related market trends specific to their health systems and geographical areas.

Collaborate across Commercial Operations, Sales Force Support and Insight functions to provide clear and consistent insight and analytics to our customers to make informed business decisions.

Ensure informational and analytical support for our customers is provided in a timely and effective manner through seamless integration with the Brand Insight and Market Access Insight teams.

Work with outsource providers, Market Access Insight, and Sales Force Operations to create and deliver new analytical systems and tools that support key Health System business objectives.

Proactively leverage available analytical tools and resources; providing insights based on a deep knowledge of markets, brands, and the evolving health care landscape. These tools include but are not limited to dashboards and routine performance reports, syndicated reports, local insight, and other key external resources.

Collaborating with internal colleagues, on-site outsourced partners and consultants to deliver analyses and primary market research as needed.

Meet regularly with customers to understand requirements and ensure insight requirements are being delivered.

Prioritize workload across key customers – possessing the ability to manage and lead numerous projects at the same time, especially large-scale projects.


Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Highly analytical with an understanding of the value and processes associated with performance analytics, customer segmentation, primary market research, and promotion response insights
  • Deep understanding of Health Systems, internal and external information sources including sales data reporting, analysis and customer targeting strategies/methods
  • Strong business acumen with ability to understand and interpret information from multiple sources
  • Ability to perform geographical analysis using multiple quantitative and qualitative sources to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity with the ability to challenge traditional thinking to solve problems.
  • Excellent informal and formal communications skills
  • Ability to lead without authority

Desirable Requirements:

  • Ability to perform analyses using Microsoft Excel and MicroStrategy or similar Business Information tools to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with secondary pharmaceutical data (IMS Plantrak, DDD, HCOS)
  • Experienced with techniques and application of primary market research.
  • Exhibits business acumen in working with secondary data and research vendors
  • Advanced Degree (e.g. MBA) or equivalent work experience
  • Project/program management expertise
