At AstraZeneca every one of our employees makes a difference to patient lives every day.

You may not feel you're at the front line of research but your role in changing patients' lives is critical. Our mission is ambitious and it takes the skills of a collaborative team to really deliver on what science can do and to always put patients first.

AstraZeneca is a global innovation driven biopharmaceutical business and we are investing heavily in our scientific and clinical capabilities. We discover, develop, manufacture, and market small molecules and biologics for important areas of healthcare, which include some of the world's most serious illnesses: oncology, cardiovascular, infection, autoimmune, respiratory, and inflammation.

The Global Projects Manager (GPM) performs the critical role of managing the operation of the drug development global project team (GPT). The GPM supports project leadership by ensuring alignment of program/project strategy and operational delivery and managing projects according to best practice at AstraZeneca.

You will coach GPT members, lead teams towards successful issue resolution, enable sound and strategic decision-making, and focus the team on the right activities at the right time, while actively identifying development opportunities for team members.

You will contribute to or lead specific aspects of governance interaction. You will deliver success by actively navigating teams through governance and key company processes to foster efficient (timely and informed) decision-making for senior leaders.

In addition, as delegated by the GML or Head, Global Project Management, you will lead elements of the drug project or cross-project strategies, or other initiatives, in which project leadership of complex sub-projects is needed. You will you ensure that overall team deliverables, budgets, schedules, project milestones and performance standards are realistically set, that governance is attained, and that the project effectively fulfills all business reporting requirements.

We’re looking for an individual who will be a role model for active learning and who will drive innovation, process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, conflict resolution and removal of barriers within and outside the team.

To be successful in this role, you will already be an experienced project manager who can demonstrate strong leadership skills and pharmaceutical cross-functional experience. You will be able to demonstrate a successful track record for tactical delivery, the ability to input into full product strategy development, collaborative work with multiple teams across cross-functional areas and global regions, a creative “out-of-the-box” thinker who is solution-oriented, and the ability to plan with the end in mind.

You’ll be adept at effectively engaging with senior stakeholders and demonstrate agility planning for success while maintaining the flexibility the business needs to succeed. You’ll have clear experience in understanding company vision and connecting it to project strategy and operational plans. You will need to demonstrate how you navigate ambiguity and handle breadth and diversity of projects while effectively supporting and driving teams to achieve.
