Job Description

The Global Marketing Director will be part of a Global Marketing team supporting Amgen's innovative cardiovascular product, Repatha. In this global strategic role, the Director will have a significant impact on the trajectory of the brand as well as the lives of millions of high risk cardiovascular patients with a high unmet need.

The Director is responsible for helping to drive the core Global Strategic Processes of Repatha and leading Strategic Global Projects for the brand. This includes evaluating, recommending and driving the implementation of strategic options to ensure the long-term commercial success of Repatha.   The Director will partner with, and influence, others as part of the overall mission to put the patient in the center of our efforts, and will understand that everything Amgen marketing does in global is aimed to support colleagues that are closest to our patients and customers.

Key area of focus / responsibilities include:

  • Together with the Executive Director, IBPT (Insights and Brand Platform Team) and Senior Program Manager, drive the Strategic Brand Planning Process along the Cardiovascular Patient Journey and based on true patient insights.
  • Develop a very robust assessment of the future therapeutic landscape including deep insights into the patients, customer, marketplace, competitors and business drivers. Extrapolate this assessment into an understanding of how the patient, marketplace and customer needs may evolve over the next several years.
  • Develop, deliver and drive key Global Strategic Projects for the brand.
  • Drive and deliver solid financial planning at a global level for the brand (LRP, Budget)
  • Work with the Senior Manager for Patient Ecosystems in developing and delivering Patient Centric Ecosystems and Patient Centric Solutions for the brand around key leverage points in the Patient Journey: identification / diagnosis, onboarding dosing experience and adherence. This includes both internal Technology Solutions (device delivery innovations) and external partnerships.
  • Identifying what clinical trial data should be generated to complement labeling and enhance scientific evidence to support the Repatha brand platform. Work closely with the Insights and Brand Platform team to create a recommended set of data generation options including Amgen Clinical Studies, Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) and Real World Evidence (RWE).
  • Together with the Global Marketing Director for Promotions, leverage key lifecycle events including clinical trial readouts and next generation device launches.

Key partnerships:

The Director will partner with the Amgen teams that are closest to our patient / customer, and influence others by putting our patient at the center of everything we do.  Representative partnerships include:

  • Working closely and in strong partnership with colleagues on the marketing team and IBPT by adopting a true cross-functional approach
  • Working closely with the Regions and Key Countries
  • Serving as the interface with internal cross-functional teams / expert functions: Amgen Digital Health, Customer Experience, Value Based Partnerships, Patient Centricity, Market Research, Development, Regulatory, Competitive Intelligence and Operations

Approximately 20% travel (domestic and international).

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing experience
OR
Master's degree and 8 years of marketing experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience with strong management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of strong commercial strategic planning and execution; successful product launch experience
  • Experience in a Strategic Regional or Global function
  • Relevant therapeutic area experience (sales, marketing and/or payer experience)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix
  • Strong leadership skills, including ability to influence teams with diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written, analytical and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze a business problem and develop an appropriate strategy
  • Strong business judgment and emotional intelligence
  • Act as a role model for others in line with Amgen values
