HUYA Bioscience International is a biopharmaceutical company focused on globalizing products from China and Asia for the world markets in multiple therapeutic areas. The Company’s lead compound in oncology, HBI-8000, which is already approved for lymphoma in China, is in late stage clinical development in Japan and Korea. In the United States, the compound is being developed in immune-oncology (IO) in multiple tumor types and disease settings. Job Summary

HUYA is seeking a highly motivated Global Head of Research and Development to join our dynamic organization. The person filling this position will be a member of the Executive Team reporting to the President and CEO, and will be responsible for the leadership, management and oversight of all aspects of research and clinical development including all global Phase I-III trials. This position will lead, implement and monitor strategic initiatives supporting the company’s business needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

•   Lead, implement and monitor strategic initiatives supporting the Company’s business needs
•   Overall responsibility and accountability and oversight for all preclinical, clinical pharmacology and global operation of clinical trials leading up to and including drug approvals.
•   Build and maintain state-of-the-art research programs that support and generate new development strategies for the existing and future pipeline of drug candidates
•   Work with the China team to prioritize in-licensing activities including diligence efforts to build the pipeline in multiple therapeutic areas especially immuno-oncology
•   Responsible for overall resource forecasting and planning, to ensure all projects are appropriately resourced during all phases and well execute
•   Serve on the Executive Team to build maximum value for the Corporation through strategic planning and execution
•   Support complacence at all applicable levels relative to the Company’s QA policies to ensure clinical, regulatory and legal operational excellence
•   Interface with other leaders within the organization for collaborative direction and decision making
•   Lead and attend senior executive governance meetings
•   Performs other duties as required

Requirements

•   Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels within the organization
•   Well versed in GCP/ICH guidelines, applicable FDA/EMA/PMDA, MFDS regulations
•   Experienced in presenting to external investors and managing clinical trial site/vendor relationships
•   Strong background in global oncology drug development through NDA approval
•   Direct experience with overseeing  audits/inspections, leading multi-functional teams and maintaining timelines
•   Demonstrates strong problem-solving and leadership skill-sets
•   San Diego-based position
•   Regular travel to Japan required

Education and Experience

•   20 years of R&D experience in biotech and/or pharmaceutical oncology development relative to global brands
•   Experience in the area of Immuno-Oncology
